We will need:

ID of the applicant

Certificate of cremation (to be requested from the funeral home)

Certificate of the approved biodegradable urn (to be requested from the funeral home)

We will work with the applicants to create a ceremony plan tailored to their needs.
They will be able to choose music, catering, master of ceremonies, and floral offering (only natural petals).

We would like to point out that it is absolutely forbidden to dump any object from the boat other than the urn containing the ashes of the deceased; this must be approved for this purpose.

You need a certificate issued by the incinerator company for the removal of the ashes, prosthesis remains or any metal component that could contaminate the sea.

This ban is in place to preserve the integrity of the marine environment and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Any violation of this policy may result in legal action and appropriate penalties.

The only exception to this rule is the possibility of making a floral offering consisting exclusively of natural flower petals. It is important to keep in mind the following specifications:

Type of Floral Offering: Only floral offerings consisting of natural flower petals are permitted. Bouquets, flowers with stems, and floral wreaths are not permitted.

Disposal Process: Natural flower petals should be gently scattered into the sea as a symbolic expression of love and respect for the deceased.

Environmental Considerations: Please ensure that the petals used are biodegradable and environmentally friendly.

  • Urn Preparation: Please ensure that the urn containing the ashes is properly closed and sealed before arriving at the designated scattering location.
  • Sea Conditions: Prior to the trip, we will check the sea conditions to ensure a safe and respectful environment during the ceremony.
  • Necessary Documentation: Please ensure that you have all necessary documents and permits to conduct the “Last Will: Ashes at Sea” service.

According to the Coastal Law, unauthorised discharges are classified as a minor offence, with a penalty of up to 60,000.00 Euros.
Sur la mer has the authorisation of the General Directorate of the Merchant Navy through its Alicante Captaincy to carry out the activity of placing funeral urns in the bay of Alicante.

We embark from the marina in the port of Alicante. We will sail for 25 minutes to the authorized coordinates to carry out the ceremony that we have planned together.
The duration of the farewell lasts between 10 and 20 minutes where we will remain on the boat with the engines off without anchoring. After the ceremony we will return to the port and the coordinates certificate will be delivered.

We thank you for your trust in choosing our service of scattering ashes at sea for this special moment. We are here to provide support and understanding every step of the way. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any questions or additional clarifications.
